Maasbert Schouten MCIM brings extensive experience as a successful entrepreneur. Among other roles, he was the founder and CEO/Chairman of the Board of AFAB Holding N.V., growing it from a sole proprietorship to a holding company with 1,000 employees. Under his leadership, the company twice won the prestigious Best Managed Companies competition. Additionally, he served as Chairman of the NVF industry association (where he was appointed honorary member upon his departure) and as a Supervisory Board member of Intermediaire Voorschotbank. He also chaired the Supervisory Board of professional football club Vitesse, where he was the 100% owner until selling the club to Merab Jordania in a unique transaction in Dutch football history. Furthermore, Maasbert was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of professional football club Achilles ’29.
In 2009, he founded N.V. MaasInvest, a now-proven successful investment company with a strong focus on growth capital and management buy-outs in the Dutch SME sector, where he currently serves as CEO.
Beyond this, he holds various additional roles in the Dutch ‘lower mid-market’ private equity landscape, including founding partner & co-head Investment Committee Two Rivers Capital, member of the Advisory Board of Main Capital IV, strategic advisor to the Board and member of the Investment Committee (IC) of MKB Fonds, member of the Advisory Committee of Knight Growth Fund II, member of the Advisory Board of Rhein Invest Mittelstand Fund II, evaluator (investment expert) of entrepreneurial pitches on BNR Zakendoen, and jury chairman (2018 to present) of the Best Small Cap Deal M&A Awards.
